As an intern at Beth Krupa Interiors, I discovered a valuable support system, as well a passion for being part of a small business.

Over the summer, I had the opportunity be part of the team at Beth Krupa Interiors, based out of Greenwich, CT. As an interior design assistant, I assisted with all parts of the design process including, but not limited to, sourcing furniture and finishes; producing CAD drawings and elevations, reflected ceiling plans, tile and millwork drawings; and working with clients directly in the design process.
Being so involved in every part of the design process allowed me to learn the backend part of working in a small business – so much so that it made me realize that I would like to be a business owner someday. Being in a small, close-knit firm where everyone was responsible for its success was something very appealing and motivating for me. I would have never thought that would be something I would want to pursue prior to working for BKI.
I previously had a relationship with Beth Krupa through ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), while serving on the E-Board as student representative. Her mentorship and generosity took my work experience to the next level. Having the space to make mistakes and ask questions was immeasurably valuable. Through this, I learned that my strengths lie in my ability to create systems and organize research to then apply it to a concept.
My work experience at BKI allowed me to practice the skills I have learned in my classes and apply them in real-life scenarios. I am even able to take back new skills I have learned in the field and apply them to my coursework. Not only do I have great exposure to trades, vendors, and professionals, I know that I have the team at BKI standing behind me. I truly feel like I can join the workforce after I graduate with the confidence that I have all the necessary experience behind me.
I always knew the field of interior design was where I belonged, but my experience at BKI solidified my purpose as an interior designer, and the difference I want to make in the world.
