About Ian
As the Assistant Director for LGBTQ+ Programming, Ian Shick works to ensure LGBTQ students have a safe place to express themselves and find success at the University of New Haven. They support the Director in the development of the Center’s Programming, focusing on LGBTQ history, activism, and community building. They also help supervise the Diversity Peer Educator (DPE) Program. Ian Shick is new to the University of New Haven, joining the team in June 2021 and is excited to bring their experience to the Charger Nation.
Before their work at the University of New Haven, they served as the Education and Training Coordinator at the Q Center, the LGBTQ Resource Center at Binghamton University. In this role, they developed the Binghamton University Active Ally Program, a 3-Tier Allyship & Leadership development program centering LGBTQ Cultural Competency & Allyship Identity Development. They also supervised and developed the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Peer Education Program to develop Peer Educators focused on Social Justice and LGBTQ Identity.
Ian is originally from Buffalo, NY and attended the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) where they received a B.S. in Paper Science and Engineering. They recently graduated in 2020, from Binghamton University, with an M.S. in Student Affairs Administration and a Master’s of Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Management.
